What happens once I place my order?
- Once you submit your order, we conduct a phone line test to check that you can receive the service requested. You will receive an email confirmation once this is completed. In the unlikely event you cannot get the service requested, we shall suggest alternatives.
- You can track your order at anytime through our Online Order Tracking service.
What is a modem?
- A modem (or, more precisely an “ADSL modem”) is a small box (or slot-in card) that connects a single computer to the telephone socket thereby enabling your broadband service. It normally has two sockets: one for your telephone line and the other for your PC. Usually it connects to the PC via a 'USB' port, but there are also models that connect to your PC via an Ethernet port (the socket is similar but slightly bigger than a phone socket). Ethernet modems require a network card in your PC. Most recent PC come as a default with an embedded network card.
What is a router?
- A router is a small box that allows several computers to share a broadband connection to the internet simultaneously by way of an 'Ethernet' connection. A router typically integrates an ADSL modem and also offers more advanced features, including security services such as a firewall.
What is a wireless (or Wi-Fi) router/modem?
- Same as a standard router, but connects to PCs via a wireless connection. A wireless connection gives you the freedom to use your PC or laptop anywhere within the range of the wireless access point - normally anywhere within your home and garden. Your PC must be equipped with a wireless card in order to connect to a wireless router. Many recent laptop computers have integrated wireless cards (all the Intel Centrino ones, for example).
What does a microfilter do?
- A microfilter splits the voice and data signals on your phone line, so you can enjoy broadband whilst using your phone at the same time (unlike, for instance, a dial-up internet connection). You will need a microfilter for each phone socket that is connected to telephone (or fax) equipment. Microfilters are often supplied with modems and routers, and can be purchased through the shopping cart in your personal portal.
Who do I contact for support with the other broadband equipment offered?
- We provide equipment from several leading providers and you should contact the manufacturer directly if you have a support issue. You can find further information about our available equipment here.
When will the equipment be sent to me?
- Equipment will arrive shortly before your service is activated.
What happens if my line goes live before my equipment arrives?
- As a matter of course, we aim to minimise the time it takes to connect you. In view of this, on occasion, a line may become activated before the equipment is received. If this is the case, you can start using Bulldog phone services as soon as the line goes live, but will have to wait until the equipment arrives in order to use Bulldog broadband services. Please do call out Customer Service team number to check that the delivery of the equipment is still on-track.
How do I go about returning items due to a cancelled order or damaged / faulty equipment?
- In the unlikely event that you need to return any equipment, you should contact our Customer Service team. Please state the reasons for returning the equipment and request an “RMA Returns Form”. You should complete this form and return it with the respective equipment.
